Franklin Trash Service Update Hwy 56 and First Street Move to Thursday
- Town of Franklin, Arkansas

Trash service is changing for some Franklin residents starting this week. Homes located on Hwy 56 and homes located anywhere on First Street will now have trash collected on Thursday instead of Friday.
All other Franklin residents will stay on the regular Friday trash service schedule.
This change is effective from now on. The City understands that this is short notice, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We were just notified of the change ourselves and are working to reach as many residents along the affected routes as possible by phone.
Please help spread the word. If you know someone who lives on Hwy 56 or First Street, let them know that their trash pickup day has moved to Thursday.

What is changing this week
The trash pickup day is changing for a specific part of Franklin.
The change applies to:
Residents who live on Hwy 56
Residents who live anywhere on First Street
For these residents, trash service has been moved to Thursday. This means carts should be placed out in time for Thursday collection instead of waiting until Friday.
This is not a one-time adjustment. The Thursday pickup schedule begins this week and will continue going forward unless residents receive another official update.
For everyone else in Franklin, there is no change. If a home is not on Hwy 56 and not on First Street, trash collection remains on the regular Friday schedule.
Thursday is only for Hwy 56 and First Street. Friday remains the regular day for everyone else.

Why the notice is coming quickly
The City apologizes for the short notice. This update is being shared quickly because the City was just notified of the route change as well.
When a service schedule changes with little lead time, the hardest part is making sure everyone gets the message before pickup day arrives. That is why the City is using several ways to contact residents and why help from neighbors matters.
Phone calls are being made to as many residents as possible along the affected routes. Notices will also be placed where residents are likely to see them in town.
The update will be posted at:
City Hall
The Post Office
Calabama’s
Facebook
These locations were chosen to help the message reach people who may not receive a phone call right away or who may not see the post online.
Short-notice changes can be frustrating, especially when trash has always been picked up on the same day. The goal now is to keep missed pickups to a minimum by getting the word out as fast as possible.
How residents can help neighbors get the message
The fastest way to make this update work is for residents to share it with one another.
A posted notice helps. A phone call helps. A Facebook post helps. Still, a reminder from a neighbor can make the biggest difference, especially for someone who may not be online often or who may not check public notices during the week.
If someone lives near Hwy 56 or First Street, a quick message can prevent a missed pickup.
Helpful ways to spread the word include:
Calling or texting a neighbor on the affected route
Mentioning the change to nearby family members
Sharing the public post on Facebook
Reminding anyone who normally puts trash out Thursday night for Friday pickup
Checking on older neighbors who may not see online updates right away
The message can be simple:
If you live on Hwy 56 or anywhere on First Street in Franklin, trash pickup has moved to Thursday starting this week. Everyone else stays on Friday.
That one sentence is enough to help most residents understand what to do.
The more the notice is repeated, the more likely it is that every affected household will be ready for Thursday pickup.
