Town Garbage Bill Increase Notice Courtesy City Service No Fees

Residents will see an increase in garbage bills following a notice the Town received from the garbage service provider. The provider dated its letter August 1, but the Town did not receive it until this week. We are sharing the information now so residents have the most current notice available.

A copy of the letter provided to the Town is posted with this announcement for public review. The Town is posting it as received so residents can see the source of the notice and review the details directly.

This announcement is meant to make the billing change clear and help residents understand why the bill amount may change.

Residents should expect, as per the document we received, that their garbage bill base of $16 to $17.85 per month as of September 1st 2026.

The Town wants to be clear: this is a courtesy service provided by the City, and the City charges no fees for it.

That means the City is not adding a separate fee, markup, processing charge, or administrative charge to residents’ garbage bills through this courtesy service. The purpose is to help provide a consistent local billing process and keep residents informed.

The increase reflected in the bills is tied to the garbage service notice, not to a new City fee.

The timing may cause confusion because the date printed on the provider’s letter is earlier than the date of this announcement. Residents should know that the Town is sharing the information as soon as possible after receiving it.

The letter from Waste Management is as follows:

If there are questions about the actual garbage service, pickup schedule, or provider-specific charges, residents should use the contact details included in the posted provider letter, if listed there. If the question is about how the courtesy billing notice is being shared, residents may follow the Town’s usual communication process.
